Hi everyone,
I am new to this forum and to ECF. A navy coworker of mine who just came from Monterey, CA attending NPS suggested that I check out the CKM website after he learned that I had a long history in practicing TKD. (No TKD jokes please!) I did check the site out and liked what I saw, especially the ECF link. I ordered the DVDs right away and will start my first routine tomorrow morning. I am not in great shape at this time (to say the least). However, I am dedicated to getting back to a healthy lifestyle and think this system + my TKD training will work very well together. I have some goals ahead of me and will post progress on this site from time to time!

Hey Jason:
Welcome to the club! You'll find the exercises on the DVD's to be very challenging - so pace yourself, but really bring it to every workout! It's cool that you do Tae Kwon Do, as your martial arts background will give you a good foundation for the compound movements you'll find in ECF. You will absolutely get in the best shape of your life, and if you have any questions at all concerning the exercises or your own progress, the forum has plenty of knowledgeable people who are here to help you out...it's a great support team! All the best... _________________ -Tim Kubit

Yup...you'll see that your legs will get a good roasting! I'm sure you've also noticed that the DVD set isn't a typical workout video, but more of an encyclopedia of exercises. The workout book is great for helping you design your own routines, and to target all of the major areas during your workout. Moni likes to encourage people to not "train like a butcher" - in other words, to not focus on one body part to train one day and then another body part the next. The body is a complete unit, meant to work as a unit. Bodybuilders have their own reasons why they train the way they do, and it has affected how everyone else structures their workouts. Don't fall into the myth of "overtraining". You can indeed train the same muscle groups on subsequent days...people who do hard labor for a living do it all the time! Just be sure to include all aspects of the program into your routines - joint mobility, upper body, lower body, abs/core, and cardio every day. Most importantly, you should switch up your routine on a regular basis to ensure muscle confusion. Personally, I follow a six day a week routine with different workouts each day. Then I might repeat that program for the following week or rearrange the days up a bit, and after two or three weeks design a new routine to start the cycle again. One important aspect people always love to ignore is to be faithful to do your warmups and cooldowns! This is the best way to avoid injury and to stave off next-day muscle soreness. It only adds about 10 - 15 minutes total to your exercise time, but it's crucial. Keep at it, and you'll see some amazing results! _________________ -Tim Kubit
